Aquatron Irrigation will shut down your irrigation system with professional care.
We offer professional lawn sprinkler winterization services. In the past several years, metro Atlanta has experienced steep and prolonged deep freezes. We are recommending that our customers have their irrigation systems winterized with a full air blow (also called a blow out). By running compressed air through the entire irrigation system, we can ensure that no water remains trapped in the piping whatsoever.
Most of the recent freeze damage we have seen have been in systems that were simply turned off for winter. The most common freeze damage occurs on heads and valves. Unfortunately your irrigation valves are one of the more costly components on your irrigation system. We would like to see more of our customers converting to the full blow out winterization. Our technician can evaluate your system upon winterization and advised you if you have a blow out port on your system. We can install one if you don't. Often we can blow out a system using a hose bib that has been plumbed on to your irrigation main line. Our customers like the added benefit of having a hose bib in the yard.
At minimum, we consider a winterization as an "insurance policy" for your irrigation system. It's better when you have one and not worry. We do warranty any freeze damage found on a system that we winterize (with the caveat being we must be the ones who perform the spring start service so we can inspect and confirm the damage). In the future we will only warranty systems our winterizations that are done with a full air blow.
