At Aquatron Irrigation, we believe in pursuing the latest technologies and techniques to provide the best possible results for our customers. This is why on established landscapes we prefer to install irrigation systems using a vibratory plow rather than by conventional trenching — a process that separates us from many of our competitors. What is the difference, and what makes vibratory plowing a better solution?
Trenching Is Effective but Leaves Scarring
The standard method of irrigation installation is by the use of a trenching machine — a powerful device with a large chain that digs a trench in the lawn. Irrigation pipes are placed in the trench and covered with the original soil that the machine dug out. This method is effective for most applications, and in fact most irrigation companies use it regularly. However, it also leaves a rather nasty scar on the landscape that can do damage to lawns and takes time to heal over.
A Vibratory Plow Is Less Intrusive
In contrast to trenching, a vibratory plow uses a much less invasive method to install irrigation piping. Through an incision not much wider than the mark made by sticking a shovel head into the ground, the vibratory plow effectively pulls the piping through the surface into the ground. This method not only preserves the look of your lawn, but it also is more versatile, allowing us to install piping in tight spaces and in delicate turf.

Of course, there are situations when trenching is still the most efficient way to install piping, and we are happy to provide traditional trenching services when needed. But we believe in giving our customers options while preserving curb appeal as much as possible, so we are proud to offer vibratory plow installations whenever possible.
